The UCSF-CIRM Scholars Research Training Program was previously active 2007-2015, and re-launched in Winter 2021. We look forward to sharing the eventual outcomes of our current scholars, and in the meantime, we are proud to present outcomes from the prior iteration of this training program.
Of 64 scholars who included clinical fellows, postdoctoral fellows and predoctoral graduate students, 28% are now in faculty positions, 39% are in industry positions (including 16% in leadership roles) and 12% are now in postdoctoral or academic researcher positions. Other scholars are now clinicians, engaged in further training including residencies and clinical fellowships, or working in the fields of science communication such as writing and publishing, healthcare investment and venture capital, and teaching.
12 of 64 scholars were under-represented in science. Of these 12, 25% are now in faculty positions, 17% are in industry positions, 17% are now postdoctoral fellows, 25% are now engaged in further training including residencies (17%) and clinical fellowships (8%). Another 16% are working in academic administration (8%) and as academic researchers (8%).
